Setup Netgear extender with the router

  1. Connect your Netgear Extender to the WLAN slot of the Netgear router using an Ethernet cable. Make sure the wires have been inserted properly.
  • Now, connect your PC or a desktop computer to the extender you want to use for the configuration. You can connect the extender with the computer with any of the available LAN ports on both devices.
  • This time use another Ethernet cable. Make sure you have made the connections perfectly. Turn off your PC, Netgear Wi-Fi extender, and the router.
  • After a few seconds, turn them on so that they can boot up. Now, open up a web browser using your PC or laptop.
  • And then, type http://mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 in the search engine bar of the browser.
  • In case you face any problem while accessing the Mywifiext login page, try to log in to your Netgear extender via its default IP address.
  • The default IP address is on the label or manual. Netgear’s default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
  • Once you type in the default web address, a login window will appear on your screen. Input the default SSID and password of your extender in the prompted window.
  • Typing these default login credentials in the login tab will let you access the default web interface of your router.
  • The default username for the setup Netgear extender page is “admin”. And the default password is “password”.
  • In case the default credentials do not work, you might have changed it to something else.
  • In such a case, try to log in with any pre-set passwords and SSID. If it is still not working, the extender needs to reset to restore the factory default settings.

If your router supports the 5 GHz band, your extender will connect to the router 5 GHz band. During your first time setup, you have to press the WPS button.
