- After that, you have to enter the web URL www.mywifiext.net in the Addy of the browser.
- Now you need to click on the new Netgear wifi extender Setup tab. And then, you can complete the Extender Setup process by clicking the NEXT button.
- Select your Wi-Fi network name and enter the network key. Or you can enter the passphrase after that, click next.
- Also, replace the SSID and passphrase of your Netgear range extender.
- Or you may just use the same existing Wi-Fi network password. Do not forget to click next to save the settings and click to go ahead.
- After saving the setting, you need to connect your router to the EX6100 SSID before tapping Continue.

Connect your Netgear EX6100 to your existing home router
When you buy a Netgear Wi-Fi extender, it needs to be set up and logged in for the first time using default login details. After that, you can set it up either on extender mode or the Access point mode. Here, we are providing some steps to set up and log in to your Netgear EX6100 extender with the existing home router. Setup Netgear extender with the router
- Connect your Netgear Extender to the WLAN slot of the Netgear router using an Ethernet cable. Make sure the wires have been inserted properly.
- Now, connect your PC or a desktop computer to the extender you want to use for the configuration. You can connect the extender with the computer with any of the available LAN ports on both devices.
- This time use another Ethernet cable. Make sure you have made the connections perfectly. Turn off your PC, Netgear Wi-Fi extender, and the router.

- And then, type http://mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 in the search engine bar of the browser.

- The default IP address is on the label or manual. Netgear’s default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
- Once you type in the default web address, a login window will appear on your screen. Input the default SSID and password of your extender in the prompted window.
- Typing these default login credentials in the login tab will let you access the default web interface of your router.
- The default username for the setup Netgear extender page is “admin”. And the default password is “password”.
- In case the default credentials do not work, you might have changed it to something else.
